Line Dancing
I have recently started line dancing and have found it to be great fun as well as a great exercise with not too much stress on the body and would recommend it to anyone who wants to keep fit .....so if you are not keen on going down to the gym why not give it a try ....I dont know the origins of line dancing but I should imagine it started in the USA I am sure someone will inform me otherwise if I am wrong .....I would be interested to know ...i am still learning sometimes going the wrong way while the others go the right way haha how come when the teacher is not looking I am doing all the right moves as soon as he checks my dancing I am doing it all wrong .. some newcomers have said I dance well little do they know alas I have said please dont follow me at least until I am a little more proficient ... we had one lady in our class who was over ninety but she recently had to stop due to illness what a role model which shows one is never to old to learn, plus quite a few are over seventy and having fun doing line dancing including some youngsters in their forties a great mix of ages combined to keeping fit and enjoying themselves at the same time.....
The Balkan countries have a tradition of line dancing which is present to this day, and of course not forgetting the wonderful country and western music making it very popular with most people .
Latin music plus modern day pop is played adding to the appeal of line dancing catering for all tastes in music . Some of my favourite tunes to dance to are Achy Breaky Heart Spanish Eyes and the Macarena.... and of course not forgetting the great Tennessee Waltz which in our group seems to be the most popular ... Once a year we go away for a weekend and stay at a hotel by the coast , during the day we go sightseeing then in the evening what is the highlight of the trip we line dance to a live band which is great fun ....Another reason I like going away for the annual holiday is seeing other dancers from the very advanced to beginners such as myself, watching the advanced dancers is a show in itself and very inspiring for newcomers to see they can also adapt their line dance to any music be it pop modern or country and western .
The Origins Of The Tango
The Tango originated in Argentina sometime in the mid 19th Century , initially it was the local dance of the people in Buenos Aires but soon became very popular all over Argentina and eventually most of Europe. It was considered quite shocking at first because of body contact during the dance. Dancing the Tango or any other dance is a great and enjoyable way to keep fit and healthy.....
